Mutombo est aussi Chairman de Cajary Majlis, compagnie de négoce, distribution internationale et grossiste de produits alimentaires basée à Dubai, UAE. C’est de là-bas que Mutombo Coffee est distribué dans le monde entier.

Maxi Shamba a été élu MVP et nommé dans le 5 majeur de la finale avec Jordan Sakho. Maxi Shamba, Evarist Shonganya et Rolly Fula Nganga, les meilleurs marqueurs ont planté à eux trois 53 des 82 points. Personnellement, basé uniquement sur les chiffres, j’aurai choisi Evariste Shonganya comme MVP car il a une ligne de stats très bonne. Malgré ses 6 pertes de balles, il a frôlé le triple-double avec 18 points, 9 passes, 9 rebonds, 4 interceptions et 3 contres.

Ryan Mutombo (#35), son of hall famer basketball player Dikembe Mutombo, has won the championship taking place in Atlanta, GA. The young center, already 6’9” (210cm!) and 195lbs (89kg) helped his squad, Team Forrest to win the 16U finals 74-61, making his father proud with 22 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks.

Certains crient à la manipulation de la CENI par la présidence. Aussi j’observe que l’on refuse la double nationalité aux Congolais de la diaspora tandis que beaucoup de politiques congolais ont la double nationalité. Affaire à suivre.
Le Congo a perdu en quart de finale 81-60 face à la Tunisie contre laquelle ils avaient déjà perdu em match de préparation.
Nous pouvons féliciter les entraîneurs, Papy Kipunka Kiembe and Charly Buzangu Kashala, qui ont fait un excellent travail pour arriver jusque là. Loin de nous décevoir, on attend d’eux qu’ils apprennent leurs leçons, engrangent de l’expérience, se développent et nous reviennent encore plus fort au prochain tournoi.
Hier, j’ai eu la chance d’assister au lancement du livre de mon ami Mayamba Luboya. Je vous avais déja présenté son projet pour Ela Jambo (il est toujours possible de faire un don) et son blog. Maintenant, son livre ”Dans mon champ de vision” vient de sortir.

Le 14 Septembre prochain, ils affronteront les Camerounais en quarts de finale.
Cette année, l’Afrobasket se passe au Sénégal et en Tunisie. C’est la première fois en dix ans que l’équipe du Congo se qualifie à ce niveau de la competition.
Le Congo a perdu son premier match 87-82 contre le Mali mais c’est loin d’être terminé. De plus gros morceaux vont être mis sur la table avec la Côte d’Ivoire, le 9 Septembre, et le Nigeria, champions en titre, le 10.
Hervé Kabasele (#14) est le joueur le plus performant après la première journée de compétition avec 25 points et 8 rebonds. Il est aussi le plus grand de l’équipe avec 2m7.
Il y a 20 ans mourrait Mobutu après un règne officiel de 31 ans et demi.

The whole world has heard the sad news early this morning. Muhammad Ali was a great champion and a true legend who stood by his words. He paid the price for it but maybe that is why is also respected so much. He fought all his life and perhaps his hardest fights were off the ring, against the government for his decision not to go to Vietnam to fight and also for his faith. He received much criticism for his conversion to Islam. But the greatest fight must have been the one against Parkinson. He fought long and well. Muhammad Ali will remain has a piece of Congolese heritage. May he rest in peace.

George Foreman at the time wasn’t really liked by the Congolese people because he didn’t know of the history. If he did, he would have made sure not to bring his german sheppard. Those dogs were used by the Belgian police during the colonization and they were not used only to intimidate if you know what I mean. This faux-pas ruined his image.
The documentary Soul Power covers the music festival that was organized in parallel of the fight. Because Foreman hurt himself, they had to postpone the fight by one month. The story says Mobutu confiscated the passports and forced the people to stay in Zaïre to make sure the fight would actually take place. He, of course, used this historical event to further his political plans.
